Ryszard Rabsztyn’s work restores art to its primal function as a vehicle for narrative and communication. By incorporating coding systems - namely Braille and Morse code - the artist transforms the artwork from a purely aesthetic object into a tangible record of information. In the exhibition Painted Syntax, encoded messages, including religious texts and personal reflections, operate on two levels: as a rhythmic, visual composition and as a concealed layer of meaning. These works serve as a metaphor for cognition and spirituality, where deciphering Braille code parallels the act of faith and the intuitive experience of the transcendent. Ultimately, Rabsztyn’s art questions the very nature of perception and the ways in which we assign meaning to the world around us.
